Bute Park might get most of the attention, but Roath Park is every bit its equal. Another verdant stretch of green magic in the city centre, Roath transports the visitor back to those elegant Victorian days, although that is somewhat null and void if you’re playing frisbee in your Havaianas. The park is almost home to 12 so-called ‘Champion Trees’, the biggest of their kinds in the country, as well as the Scott Memorial, built to commemorate Captain Scott’s ill-fated attempt to make it to the Antarctic in 1910.
