Known locally as ‘Simonstown’, this is place to go for all your penguin requirements. Yes, no typo there, we’re talking about penguins in South Africa. The nearby Boulders Beach is home to one of only three penguin populations on the African mainland, although the black and white waddlers are fairly new to the area — they only started camping out here in 1985.
Simon’s Town is very accessible from Cape Town, best accessed by a rather scenic train ride along the cape.
