Home to the most expensive real estate in South Africa, you don’t need to be an expert to understand why everyone wants to live in Clifton. The deliciously blue ocean jutting into the white sands has plenty to do with it, and this part of Cape Town is home to some of the most picturesque beaches on the planet. There are four Clifton beaches (named 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th) and each attracts its own crowd. First beach for example is popular with dog walkers, while Fourth is popular with teenagers. Second and Third beaches are more sheltered coves and are the best place to go if the wind is getting up.
Just past Fourth Beach heading towards Camps Bay is Maiden's Cove, a beautiful little beach with a scenic tidal pool fringed by boulders that is a nice place to go snorkelling.
