The Romanian National Opera was built in the early 1950s, opening in 1954 with a performance of Tchaikovsky’s Queen of Spades. Vaguely neoclassical in design the building is elegant on the outside, with a richly decorated main auditorium. It is a splendid place to see either opera or ballet (the building hosts both). You can see the schedule and buy tickets online at the opera’s website, here.
