Pisana Stijena

Not too far from the village of Žlijeb is a true mystery, a piece of the natural world that features the unmistakable touch of human art. Known locally as the Pisana Stijena (Written Rock, essentially), this cliff-face has a number of medieval inscriptions on it that are extremely curious to say the least, with many of them resembling birds, crosses, and other hooked images. Feel free to make up your own theory until an official explanation is uncovered.
