A little special is this. Dobrun Monastery lies just 12km away from Višegrad and is more than worth the trip, especially if beautiful serenity and tranquility is your thing. It all began with a 14th century, a cute little building that was beloved and neglected in equal order before eventually being bombed by the Nazis during World War II, largely destroyed although not obliterated entirely. A small stone wall managed to salvage many of the frescoes, allowing reconstruction work to begin almost immediately following the war. The monastery has since become a supremely important point for followers of the Serbian Orthodox faith, and the monastery is still active today. There is a large gallery that is open for visitors, as well as a quite magnificently placed statue of Karađorđe, who hid here during his storied life.
