The 11th International Wild Flower Festival celebrates several centuries of flora-based tourism to Bohinj, an unusual branch of holidaying helped along by the natural scientist, traveller and explorer Balthazar Hacquet (1739-1815) whose four volume Oryctographia Carniolica did much to promote the natural beauty of the region. Running over a two-week period, the festival features scores of events aimed at promoting nature tourism to the region with a particular emphasis on the role wild flowers play in its ecosystem.
