Along with skiing and cycling, hiking forms the Holy Trinity of Slovenian outdoor pastimes, and with so many opportunities in and around Tržič to partake in the latter it would be a shame not to do during your visit. The website of the local tourist office has extremely detailed info about 10 different hiking paths in the area (Slovene language only at the moment, but nothing that Google translate can help with). They range from a 2.5-hour jaunt to the lookout point and café at Kriška Gora to the 10-country, 66-stage Via Alpina, which will take you all the way to the famed Casino de Monte-Carlo in Monaco. Pro tip: if you opt for the latter, don't forget to pack your finest James Bond uniform, as the dress code tends to be quite strict.
