The Pokljuka plateau, rich with forests, is located in the Julian Alps as part of Triglav National Park. It is known for its winter sports facilities, among which is the Biathlon World Cup. Many beech and fir trees were chopped down in past centuries for the iron foundries in Bohinj. They have been naturally replaced mostly by spruce trees. Some swamps can also be found, it is not very common on such high plateaus. To get there, take the road from Bled to Gorje, then just continue straight on, following signs for Pokljuka.
