Birmingham’s most unusual building? We’ll go one further and say that Birmingham’s library is one of the most aesthetically impressive in Europe. It also happens to be the largest public cultural space in Europe, with 20,798m2 of floorspace given over to creativity in many forms, not to mention the 6,804m2 it shares with the neighbouring Repertory Theatre. The library was opened in 2013 and has become one of the city’s main attractions in the years since, attracting people who enjoy wandering the shelves in search of a lost classic and also a mass of curious onlookers who just want to photograph the building itself. The library is located on Centenary Square and is easy to find, so don’t miss it.
