Museumsfest is a journey of discovery, allowing visitors to take a peek behind the scenes, join in, and celebrate. You can expect a varied programme of talks, guided tours, hands-on activities, and, of course, music, as well as free admission to all exhibitions. Families can explore the permanent exhibition as part of a treasure hunt or with a discovery booklet, visit the Middle Ages with knights or the coasts of Europe with the hobgoblin, pose for a special family photo in historical costumes – Museumsfest offers an exciting programme for all ages. Expert talks explain what goes into planning an exhibition, and what makes an object of value to a history collection? DHM staff discuss what makes their jobs special and introduce visitors to some of the museum’s prized treasures.

There will be tours throughout the day, including German History in Images and Artefacts at 1pm and 3pm, Saving – History of a German Virtue at 2pm and Europe and the Sea at 3.30pm. Besides English, there will also be tours in French, Spanish and even Arabic!
