Christopher Street Day
Thursday Jun 27 12:00
The 2019 edition of the festival takes on an extra prominence as it marks the 50th anniversary of the famous Stonewall riots in New York, where the city’s LGBT community rose up against police brutality for the first time. The 2019 Berlin edition centres around a motto of ‘Every Riot Starts With Your Voice’, with plenty of iconic activists getting a little extra shine this year.
The parade begins at midday on July 27 at the Joachimsthaler corner of Kurfürstendamm (close to the eponymous metro station), taking an ambling route around the city before making it to Brandenburg Gate a few hours later. There is more to the event than the walk though, so do keep an eye on the official website for the full program and a whole lot more. Everybody is welcome, as it should be.
