Belgrade has gained itself a reputation for being a grey city, but this is unfair to say the least. The city is full of lush parks and tree-lined boulevards, and Košutnjak is one of our favourites when it comes to the former. Loving referred to as the city’s ‘oxygen factory’, what began as a hunting ground for the rich has evolved into one of Belgrade’s most popular parks all year round. A wide variety of flora can be found here, along with a small number of cute mammals like hedgehogs and squirrels. It makes an excellent excursion from town, and you can find many activities to fill your day, such as horseback riding, biking and jogging. The 330 hectare space is sprinkled with picnic tables that are often visited by locals playing music out of their cars while firing up a barbecue.
