Serbian botanists don’t come any more legendary than Josif Pančić (we’re being fairly liberal with our use of the word ‘famous’ there), and the great man’s final gift to the city is the mass of greenery in the centre of town. Jevremovac Botanical Gardens is exactly what you’d expect a botanical garden to be, a refreshing injection of tranquility and lush flora in the heart of a city that occasionally goes overboard with the grey.
