Springhill House

This delightful 17th Century Plantation house is one of the National Trust's most evocative properties.

Within its stone and lime walls dwells a resident ghost, said to be that of Olivia, second wife of former owner George Lenox-Conyngham.

No doubt Olivia would be tickled pink to find little has changed in her home. The nursery, gun room and library are all steeped in stories masterfully recounted by costumed guides.

And beyond the main house, the old laundry now houses an elegant costume collection dating from the 18th to 20th Century.

Outside, the walled gardens and expanse of parkland are especially beautiful in summer's full bloom.

  • Find Springhill one mile from Moneymore on the B18 Coagh Road (five miles from Cookstown).
