The Moravian Church was founded in 1457 in the Czech homeland of Bohemia where religious persecution forced many followers to settle in other countries. Moravians first came to Britain in the 1730s and later settled in NI where, today, there are five Moravian communities including one at the very pretty Gracehill outside Ballymena, Co. Antrim. The University Rd. church was founded in 1887 at the height of the city's expansion. Its red sandstone edifice belies a simple white and wood interior.
