Drumlin Lane
A sweeping landscape of rolling green fields awaits guests at these brand new self catering cottages. And it's not just the scenery that's green... having spent time in Vancouver, owner Glenn Harvey has incorporated the Canadian city's green tourism ethos into his eco-friendly accommodation.
The woodburning stove provides a cosy living room centrepiece while heating the entire house. Solar panels, triple glazing and a Timberframe keep the cottages snug and the water hot. A rainwater recycling system directs downfall to the toilets, washing machines and outside taps. And the veg garden offers up free seasonal bounty for guests.
The contemporary decor features a mod-con kitchen-living-dining space and sleek bath and shower rooms. All bedrooms have plasma TVs, and upstairs bedrooms are en-suite. Choose from Croob View Cottage which sleeps up to six in two double bedrooms - one also with bunkbeds - or Hillcrest with one twin and two double bedrooms. Outside there's a small ground-level trampoline, while a large games room has a pool table, table tennis, and mini pool and fussball tables for the tots. Just what our unpredictable climate requires.
A thee-mile drive takes you to the historic village of Hillsborough with its picture-postcard architecture, lakeside walks and award-winning bars and restaurants. Belfast is also a mere 15 miles away, which means this rural retreat can be as far from, or as close to, all the action as you desire. Free WiFi keeps you connected whatever your plans.
