One of four Catholic churches in Banja Luka, the Cathedral of Saint Bonaventure has long been the seat of the Banja Luka Bishopric. The church itself isn’t particularly grabbing, but its surroundings well and truly are. The Catholic Church is separated from an Orthodox Cathedral by a wall, although this isn’t quite as negative as the description suggests. What really grabs is the 42m bell tower, a fascinating structure that is every bit as aesthetically unusual as the spomeniks that are growing increasingly popular with younger visitors. Put simply — if this tower was found on top of a hill, it would be a major attraction.
