You expect a certain level of splendour from a royal residence, and the Marselisborg Palace certainly does not disappoint. A grand country house that was completed at the beginning of the 20th century, the palace is a so-called ‘gift of the people’ that stands proudly in the centre of some quite magnificent parkland, a verdant expanse that is full of curious statues and some of the finest walking routes in Aarhus. The palace itself isn’t open to the public, but you are free to wander around the grounds — as long as the royals aren’t home, of course.
