Mullet Bay is by far the most crowded beach on St. Maarten, but even so it's still a must-see mainly due to its ridiculously clear and calm blue waters and its lovely location nestled in the bay with a rocky edge. The sand and surf are second to none, but watch out for the strong undertow, which can transform the beach into a giant wave pool perfect for surfing. Snorkellers can swim out to the big reef on the right side. The surrounding buildings that were ripped apart by hurricanes have finally been removed making the place much more pleasing to the eye and a number of improvised beach bars sell beer, sandwiches and snacks, but Daleo’s and Rosies Lunch Shack are our favourites. You won't find any signs, so just head off right before the golf course. Lounge chairs with umbrellas can be rented for $5, but no showers are available.
