Another magnificent piece of culture on the Albert Dock, the TATE Modern was opened in 1988 and is the number one spot in this part of the country for anyone looking for an education in modern art. The walls of this charmer are a veritable checklist of who’s who from the 20th century — Marina Abramović here, Damien Hirst there, Francis Bacon in the middle — and covers all sorts of genres along the way. Entry to the museum is free, and be sure to keep an eye on the website for any and all upcoming events.
