You can’t tell the story of Liverpool without detailing its long and storied maritime history, so it is no great wonder that this museum on the Albert Dock is another home run. Opened in 1980, the love story between Liverpool and its Merseyside port is told in full detail, the good and the bad, in what is another great warts and all museum in a city full of the things. The Border Force National Museum is found in the basement, and is a sobering look at freedom of movement (or the lack of) throughout the city’s history.
