The biggest cathedral in Britain, the Liverpool Cathedral was always our first port of call when welcoming Couchsurfers to the city. We would take them to the top, braving the wind in search of the finest views in Liverpool, and no matter how often we visited it never got old. Opened in 1978, the cathedral stretches some 331 feet into the sky and is one of the most iconic buildings in a city full of the things, although don’t ignore the interior in the heated search for the views. The high altar inside is one of the most impressive in the country, and keep an eye out for the Tracey Emin installation — an eminently Instagrammable spot in one of the city’s most beautiful buildings.
