Natural History Museum (Museo Civico di Storia Naturale Giacomo Doria)

  Via Brigata Liguria 9      (+39) 010 56 45 67     more than a year ago
A really great rainy-day option, especially for the children who will love this collection of stuffed animals. The museum was inaugurated in 1867 and moved to these centrally located headquarters in 1912. It hasn’t changed much since then and still exudes old fashioned charm. You feel that Charles Darwin might come walking round the corner at any minute. The space is not enormous and it’s definitely not one of those high-tech, hands- on, sparkly museums but it has a vast array of native animals and birds as well as Italy’s largest insect and butterfly collection. Minerals, rocks and fossils too add to the 4 million different exhibits. Entrance for disabled visitors is in via Macaggi 92 r.
