Built amidst controversy and criticism, this early 20th century bridge replaced the 16th century Porta dell’ Arco which led from Saint Stephen’s church. It is 21 m. high and gives a great view of Via XX Settembre and the city. There’s a lift from Via XX (Coin side) or take the steps from either side of the road. Names of those who died in the struggle for freedom during WWII are carved under the arches on both sides of the road.
