The 1956 Revolution rocked the country from east to west, and Debrecen’s historic soul ensured that it played a major role. The revolution is commemorated with a marble memorial created by award-winning Hungarian sculptor Miklós Melocco, a sombre reminder of a rebellion brutally crushed.
