If you’re looking for the very heart of Debrecen, the Calvinist College might just be it. Located directly behind the Great Reformed Church, this centre of Calvinist learning has been active since 1538, and is considered by many to be the beating heart of historic Hungarian culture. It is still active today, and there is also a museum for visitors to come and explore the storied history of the Reformation and this splendid country. The Grand Library is undoubtedly one of the most impressive on libraries on the planet, and it is here that those vital meetings in 1849 took place. History, aesthetics and culture, all in one place.
