Although Venezuelan oil keeps the economy of Curacao going, the price is so high that the government has been searching for other possibilities. With unlimited amounts of sun and wind, it may come as no surprise that wind generators have become a reliable source of energy on the island. The Tera Kora wind farm near San Pedro has been in operation since 1993 and a second park, Playa Konia, was constructed less than a decade ago. Together the plants produce enough energy to satisfy the needs of 6,000 households each day.
