Normally we wouldn't consider a whole town as a must see attraction, but the area of Williwood is certainly unique. Beaches, salt flats, plantation houses and unspoiled nature await you at this relaxing place where time seems to stand still. The giant church dating from 1888 is of course one of the most impressive examples of architecture in the area. About 20 minutes to the west of Willemstad lies St. Willibrordus, also known as San Willibrordu. The surrounding hamlet is occupied by a mere 500 people but this of course doubles or even triples when guests from neighbouring resorts, bungalow parks and hotels drop by. You can also gawk at its main claim to fame which is an unusual copy of the famous Hollywood sign. But where the American icon stands for glamour, optimism and grandeur, Curacao’s version is more of a jest. For now Williwood doesn't require razor wire, infrared technology, 24-hour surveillance and a helicopter patrol. A strategically placed webcam would probably do the trick.
