If you'd like to try Curacao's local cuisine at least once during your holiday you can’t go wrong at Landhuis Dokterstuin's open-air restaurant. Although eating on an old estate may sound posh, it’s actually quite the opposite. In fact, this is by far one of the cheapest and most attractive dining options on the whole island. The short drive out of town may cost you a few litres of petrol, but you won’t regret it. Whichever Antillean dish you’re looking for this place has it covered, which is probably why it's always packed with local families. Start with sopi kabritu (goat meat soup) or sopi kadushi (cactus soup) and move on to more filling mains like piska kora hasa (fried red snapper). The ambience of the covered patio and the lush tropical garden can’t be beat, but make a reservation to be on the safe side. From a distance you can see the huge red letters of Komedor Krioyo on the roof and the flag of Curacao.
