The tragic history of slavery is brought to life at this museum through the interesting stories of local guides. The central building was named Mangazina di Rei, which means the King's Warehouse. It dates from 1824 and is the oldest stone building in Rincon. The building was used as a storage room for provisions for government slaves. Every Saturday rations were distributed to the slaves, most of whom worked at the southern salt pans. All tours include a showcase of indigenous culture where you'll learn about the traditional customs of the people of Rincon.
