This is probably the best bar on the island. The name is a bit confusing, as even after several visits we couldn’t find any evidence of anything remotely Cuban inside with the exception of some excellent cigars, which are often smoked at this low key joint. Filled with locals, it has a simple interior, a good selection of cold beers and classic 1970s rock and jazz music emanating from its speakers. Friendly, relaxed staff offer quick service and have somehow been vaccinated against the scourge of island time, a unique exception in the Dutch Caribbean. If you manage to get one of the few tables outside, hold on for dear life and make sure someone guards it when you make a run to the toilet. Perfect for people-watching, just sit back and take a look at the shoppers, divers, tourists, cyclists and local islanders pass by. Live music at the weekend is another reason to drop by.
