The area surrounding the Zuid train station, known as Zuidas (or South Axis) is chock full of interesting buildings that are a testament to modern architecture. Banks, accountancies and other firms that make loads of money from boring professions compete with one another here for bragging rights to the most interesting building. After all, if you’re going to work at an artless job crunching numbers in a small cubicle you might as well enjoy the attractive architecture outside. A cancer ward is decorated in vibrant and positive colours, while the ING building stands out like a children’s toy made of glass building blocks. Afterward you can relax and have a picnic or a scenic walk in the nearby Beatrix Park. Take a short train trip from Central Station to the Zuid Station.
