If the impossibly steep stairs at the entrance haven’t yet scared you off, the set of strict house rules most probably will. Apart from the excessive posting of non-smoking signs, one of the hostel’s rules reads: 'If you are above the age of 40 years you will be refused in to the hostel, because this is a place for young people'. Well, in case you are indeed above the age of 40 years, we would have recommended that you give it a pass anyway. The common room is full of teenagers involved in pre-party drinking and the hostel rooms offer nothing more than lockers and narrow bunk beds. Even though Linnaeusstraat was the infamous location of the Theo van Gogh murder in 2005, the neighbourhood is in fact quite pleasant with lots of restaurants and shops around.

london NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN, SUITCASES, PUSHCHAIRS, ELDERLY, PREGNANT OR DISABLED
I booked a room at this hotel last week on booking.com as it appeared to be child friendly by saying children was welcome and there are family rooms. However this is not the case at all! so be warned.
I was travelling with my 7 month old baby and when i got to the hotel i was shocked to see the huge flight of steep steps to get in the hotel. No other access.
How am i meant to get a baby, pushchair and suitcase up these stairs?!
I had to leave everything at the bottom of the stairs while i ran inside to talk to a member of staff who was completely useless and unhelpful.
Nobody helped me. I had to leave and pay for another hotel at £125 a night! more then i can afford.
And amigo hotel had the cheek to charge me for my stay even though it was impossible for me to gain access and then charge me a cancellation fee!
It also smelt of smoke inside and looked dirty. Maybe best i stayed in a luxary hotel after all rather then this pigsty.
