It's a sad fact that Hungarian wines are not held in the appropriate esteem internationally. It's a long way from the days when Tokay for example was known in all the courts of Europe as "the wine of kings and the king of wines". Much of what is imported is not of the top drawer, but that's what makes a trip or three to local wine stores so rewarding.
