Float up to the highest peak in north-eastern Switzerland with the Säntis cableway, conquering more than 1,100 metres of altitude in just 10 minutes. Then enjoy the fantastic views at more than 2,500 metres above sea level over the mountains of the Alpstein and the Toggenburg region. In perfect conditions you will be able to see five other countries: Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, France and Italy! The cableway starts at Schwägalp (at 1,300 metres), on the peak there is a restaurant. Getting to Schwägalp from Zurich by public transport takes roughly 2.5hrs - ask at the SBB counter for the fastest connection. There is at least one per hour. Open all year round. You can also take the alpine hiking path up to the peak (3h), but you need to wear hiking shoes and have no problem with heights.
