The phrase ‘this location can’t be beat’ gets thrown around rather a lot but never has it run truer than in the case of Makalonca, where you find yourself quite literally on the Ljubljanica. Named after the story of a princess and with five decades of tradition behind them, this local legend is reopening with a new agenda, namely pub food with born out of distinctly Slovenian ingredients. Excellent burgers are the order of the day, but you’ll also struggle to find a better location for breakfast the morning after an evening here. A must visit.
