The family who runs this authentic restaurant fled earthquake-racked Armenia and then opened a little piece of their homeland in Riga. But after decades of serving mouth-watering grilled lamb, veal and pork shashliks as well a wide variety of other delicious cuisine from the Caucasus Mountains on Miera iela, they finally moved to the Art Nouveau district of the city centre at the end of 2015. The interior is much more modern and stylish than that of the previous location, but thankfully all of the photos of artists, singers and politicians who have dined at this culinary institution now cover an entire wall of the new restaurant. Personalised service from the family is still a hallmark of Aragats, but in keeping with 21st-century etiquette women are now given menus that include prices! Try a glass of Georgian Saperavi wine to complete the experience or dine outside on its large summer terrace.
Open 12:00-22:00. Fri, Sat 12:00-23:00, Closed Mon, Sun.

Riga The restaurant "Aragats" is the very special place where you can come with your family, friends, alone, where you can have fun in the company, just relax, spend the time with a glass of perfect Georgian wine, switch your attention from stressful everyday life to relaxing atmosphere of a noble Caucasian feast. Tasty meat dishes.

Having been a happy regular castomer for more than 10 years I had a bad experience couple of weeks ago. As always I ordered hacapuri which is a warm goat cheese pie or bread - and really delicious when properly made. And Aragats has made it right until now. What we got was made of butter dough you can by from the Suppermarkets. They didn't even bother to put cheese inside. Unfortunately Aragats is not anymore the place it used to be.
