An exhibition featuring masterpieces of European armour-making is currently on display at the Museum of Hunting & Horsemanship in Warsaw's Łazienki Park, recounting the tournament culture of the 15th-16th centuries in Poland and Europe, and features valuable artifacts from the State Art Collection in Dresden, which has one of the greatest collections of tournament and ceremonial weapons in the world. Knight tournaments, which were first organised in France in the 11th-12th centuries, became an integral part of medieval and Renaissance European customs and were initially treated as practical military exercises. Over time, however, they gained an ideological foundation and became an expression of the knightly ethos and promotion of Christian virtues and secular culture. The exhibition afeatures life-size mannequins of mounted warriors in 16th-century armour, as well as showcases presenting elements of the tournament's offensive and protective armament. The exhibition is a unique opportunity to learn about the evolution of knightly tournaments and the art of armour-making in Europe.
