As the oldest building in Abu Dhabi the Qasr Al-Hosn surely deserves a mention. This iconic building dates back to the 1790’s and comprises of two parts; the Inner Fort and the Outer Palace which was a later addition in the early 1940’s. It has served many purposes over the years, including home to the ruling family, the seat of government, a consultative council and a national archive. Since 2018, and after much restoration work, it became a museum and national monument and houses artefacts dating back as far as 6000 BC.
