This Jewish restaurant is located downhill from the ruins of the Golden Rose Synagogue, the oldest synagogue in Ukraine. The outdoor seating is exceptional and helps make this a dining hotspot. Here are a few things to know before you go. 1. There are no prices listed on the menu as you are expected to barter. Being a foreigner, they’re likely to just quote you a reasonable price. 2. For the right price you can secretly arrange to have your waiter smuggle in some pork dishes. How kosher is this place? 3. They offer a fantastic selection of salads, vegetable dishes, Galician desserts and traditional Jewish breads. 4. For a taste of Lviv you’ll never forget, try the homemade vodka.

I recently went to Lviv and found your Lviv guide to be excellent. I therefore will offer some small feedback. <br />I went to the Jewish Restaurant on pg 22 "Zolotoiu Rozoyu". The food and location and service are excellent. However this idea of bartering for your food after you have eaten is really stupid because only the restaurant can really gain from it.<br />I went there in the morning and refused to order without a price list. After some resistance they finally gave me a book with a price list. I felt perhaps the prices were slightly high so when I went back for dinner later I agreed to barter. This was a stupid idea.I decided to try bartering and was initially quoted 450 Hr for my dinner. After a long time I got them down to their "minimum" price of 187 Hr and they printed a reciept for me. However this price was just what they quote in their price list book (so they do have prices). These are not particularly cheap prices by Lviv standards. So 187 was at the high end of what I would expect to pay in Lviv.My point here is that they have nothing to lose by bartering - they might get alot more than their "fair but high" 187 Hr but you the customer wont get anything lower than 187 Hr by bartering. They are not risking anything but you the customer are risking alot.<br />I recommend eating there but don't agree to order anything there without a price list first offered.
