Where did we enter a time machine that transferred us to the Renaissance Italy? A big round bar of Venetian hat form and 12 blowing heads are right in the middle of the ground floor. Beneath a real gondola “float” found its harbour. On the second floor there are romantic Romeo and Juliet balconies for lovers and the Balcony with beautiful view over the city. Veroneze banquet hall is decorated with copies of the famous Italian painters accommodate 14 - 20 people. Biblioteka hall with books, synopsis of classicists and styluses, as well as a VIP-hall for 6 people called Coliseum. The restaurant serves traditional Italian dishes and specialities. Another attractive feature is an aquarium with live mussels, crabs and lobsters. Every night (except for Sun) there is live music, and Italian songs are performed by waiters.

I heard your restaurant is closed due to rebuilding from the end of April until autumn. Is this true? And does your great piano player Sergey still work for you?

The Da Vinci has a new chef since my last visit but the quality has not changed. It is still some of the best food in a city of truly great restaurants. My wife and I had a marvelous dinner (based on the recommendations of our server) and there was nothing that wasn't Silver Service perfect. The chef's pasta diswhes are a must try. In a city of so much change, it is nice to know that some restaurants never, ever relax their standards. The Da Vinci is fast becoming a required stop on any trip through Kyiv for my wife and I.

I took my fiancee to dinner here as a treat before we left Kiev. I'm not sure any review or comment on the Da Vinci will give them the credit they're due. I was here about a year ago and remembered the Da Vinci Fish Club as one of the best places I had been to back then. It still is. The service was faultless, professional and personal. The food is 5-star and the wine list is tough to beat. Trust the sommelier for a perfect match to every dish. We did and had not a single complaint. This is not a backpacker restaurant and simple respect for the professional staff and the superb menu requires a suit. Leave the jeans at home unless you arrive in your own Ferrari.
