No visit to Poland should be considered complete without a stop in the beautiful, historic city of Toruń. With its medieval center designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, the exquisitely detailed brick gothic architecture, cobblestone streets, gas lanterns and stained glass windows of Toruń are like something straight out of a fairytale. Coupled with its idyllic location on the Vistula River, the millennia-old gingerbread industry and its historic connections to the famed astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, we aren't surprised when we often hear about what was intended to be a short two-day trip extend into a pleasantly lazy week for some travellers.
