To celebrate 100 years since The Wilds has been a Johannesburg fixture, Friends of The Wilds hosts 10 days of talks, walks, and activities with experts and enthusiasts from Fri, Nov 1 – Sun, Nov 10. Tickets are R200 p.p. and proceeds go towards continued maintenance and development of the park.
Programme highlights
Fri, Nov 1 – To kick off a sweet itinerary at The Wilds, attend a talk on the amazing life of the honey bees at 9:00. Then, at 10:00, if birds are your thing, attend a bird walk through the reserve.Sat, Nov 2 – At 11:00, look forward a talk on urban wildfire and later, at 16:00, join Dionne MacDonald for a mosaic walking tour at The Wilds. Make sure to keep an eye out for stunning new mosaics created by Spaza Art Gallery.
Sun, Nov 3 – Find some inner peace and relaxation with Yin Yoga at 10:00. For the photographers, attend a toy photography activity at 15:00.
Mon, Nov 4 – It's all about exhaling and inhaling with a breath work session at 9:00.
Sun, Nov 10 – From 08:30, Johannesburg Heritage Foundation is getting involved in the centenary celebrations with a guided walk of The Wilds led by Arj van Zweiten and Prof Kathy Munro. Book your tickets here.
