The bronze statue of a turtle, which symbolises longevity, has been watching over the beach from his elevated position since 1995. Created by sculptor J.Bārda, it’s now one of the most recognised symbols in Jūrmala and it’s become somewhat of a tradition for tourists to have their photo taken next to it or, in some cases, on top of it.
