Yet another attraction has sprouted up on the urban wasteland next to Hardbrücke station - the open-air bar and restaurant Frau Gerolds Garten, which sprawls over some 20,000m². Old shipping containers house the two bars and a kitchen and provide a terrace where you can sip a drink and enjoy the view over the sea of railway tracks and beyond. There really is a garden too, including vegetables, which apparently are used by the chefs. From the couple of daily changing menus on offer we chose a very decent crayfish salad with Thousand Island dressing. There’s also a charcoal grill serving sausages and a tent, providing dry seating even in the rain. In winter they serve cheese and meat fondue in a wooden pavilion.
