Bauernschänke offers fine dining in the casual atmosphere of an old town tavern. Award-winning chef Nenad Mlinarevic conjures up real delicacies, all served as plates to be shared. The braised celery with truffle jus and parmesan cheese was by far the best celery dish we've ever had and the grilled asparagus with a Japanese-style onsen egg served on a herbal vinaigrette was an exceptionally well-balanced composition. The deep fried and breaded poulard was crispy, yet incredibly tender and the chilli mayo gave it an unusual twist. For dessert we ordered a selection of cheeses and chocolate and an herb sorbet – the latter a daring composition, with an incredibly intense herbal flavour. The service was also beyond reproach and all in all we had a great night out.
