As part of a regeneration project in the north of Lucerne, a former football field by the riverside has undergone a major transformation. These days it offers a beach, adventure playground, sports field, a (bring your own) BBQ area and the Nordpol (North Pole) summer café bar. A seating area is available by the mobile bar, which serves up a vegetarian dish of the day, lángos (deep fried dough), fries and cheese and meat platters, all using locally-grown produce. It's an ecologically sound project, where part of the profit is also donated to a local water project, but bear in mind that its opening hours are weather dependent.
