The Metzgerhalle, literally slaughterhouse, is a former punk-rock-trash hangout, which was taken over by a local hipster crew. It's based in an old restaurant building with a small beer garden out the back. They serve up Mediterranean snacks and sandwiches, ginger tea and the increasingly popular club mate (an ice tea version of South American mate tea) and a rather special oriental-style brunch with hummus, lentil purée, couscous, feta cheese. In the evening it is a popular meeting place for the cool kids of Lucerne with occasional concerts and DJs.
