This small Latino bar is tucked away behind the Gewerbehalle off Baselstrasse, an area popular with students and transcultural Lucerne residents that is slowly, but surely developing into the city's offbeat party mile. Small and cosy, El Barrio has a kitsch flair and specialises in funk, soul, reggae, Carribean and cumbia depending on the night. It also hosts DJs and small concerts and allows its patrons to smoke, which is perhaps why it's so lively here at the weekend.
